Tamara Bernard examined the roots of trauma informed practice frameworks that is Indigenous, intersectional, gendered and holistic in ways to consider how culturally safe practices are diverse based on age, gender, healing influences and Indigeneity. Bernard explains how to support Indigenous children and families is to understand and improving knowledge on historical and contemporary assertions of colonialism, sexism, poverty, racism and discrimination to inform your practice and approaches within education, services of care and programs.

Tamara Bernard is an award-winning international speaker, advocate, and educator from Kiasheke Zaaging Anishinaabek (Gull Bay First Nation). Tamara’s passions are education, advocacy, and building organizational capacity to integrate critical Indigenous knowledge, inclusive training, and evaluations into Indigenous and non-Indigenous sectors.
